Christmas is a time for peace and good dreams, but for Nick it would soon become a nightmare. When he starts skipping classes to hang out with the bullies at school, strange things begin to happen. A horrifying apparition haunts his dreams and tears his stocking into shreds! Finally, the beast crashes through Nick's bedroom window, throws him in a sack, and spirits him away to its lair. Nick finds himself in a world of perpetual twilight where he will have to find his way home before becoming trapped forever, or worse. THE KRAMPUS is hungry and the oven awaits a fresh meat pie! 
What would you do to save your family?
Leila sister has come down with a terrible fever that the doctors can’t explain. It started with the fireflies that mysteriously appeared in November, and then when she was visited by “the bug man.” When Leila confronts the FIREFLY that has made her sister sick she must make a terrible choice to save her sister or offer it another victim to satiate its terrible appetite! The monster needs to feed on blood and it needs another body to inhabit. His eyes are set on Leila!

“You will face a difficult task in the future. The card is reminding you that every person has a part of themselves they like to hide. Even when times are hard, you must not lose yourself.” Ian frowned as Mrs. Marcas read his fortune. The school Halloween carnival was supposed to be the highlight of Halloween, but something about the card he picked seemed ominous. As he headed for the storyteller, things quickly took a turn for the worst when the school bullies chased him into an abandoned house. Inside, the children with EMPTY EYES decided to make Ian their friend. A black living mass twisted and coiled in his chest and closed in on his heart. Time was ticking away with every infected beat, and if Ian didn’t act quickly he really would lose himself forever.

“Mrs. Snider,” Duane asked. “Do you know anything about Black Pond?” “There isn’t some monster drowning children. It’s a dangerous, polluted pond,” she said. But there is a monster that lurks silently in the water, watching and waiting; hungry for its next meal. Duane has seen THE BEAST OF BLACK POND, and the beast has his scent. The beast hunts him from the pond, to the lake by the dam, even to his own swimming pool. Duane will need all his wits, and the help of his friends if he wants to avoid being pulled under to a watery grave.

Jane is ecstatic when she gets the role of Red Riding Hood in her school play, but she didn’t realize that they’d be using the stuffed wolf prop as the BIG BAD WOLF. That tattered old prop has always scared her and lately she has been having strange dreams about it that make it seem like it’s something more. Jane will have to get help to save herself from the hungry spirit that has haunted her people and her nightmares before it consumes her, or worse, before it escapes the prison of the last creature it took to satiate its horrible appetite.

They get more than they counted on when they accidentally witness a public execution of Sylvan Islanders, and Mercy is captured after being mistaken for a Sylvan spy! And, where is Erebus? Dark and sinister secrets are revealed on the perilous journey to the north, and Erebus is forced to confront his inner demon, while Mercy discovers a demon of her own. Both demon’s are allowed to play when the ship is attacked by the very traitor Pyron is hunting. The nights are watched over by a full blood moon, considered a dire omen. And in the midst of it all, Mirilee has a dark vision of the war they are trying to prevent. What will become of Mercy and her friends? Join Mercy, Erebus, Pyron, Beryl, and the whole group as they continue their quest for the source of the blood rain. This high seas adventure takes the group into dangerous waters where the truth about magic comes to the surface.

Mind of Mercy, a young woman training to be a shaman, fears attacks by the blood wings. These hideous, winged beasts often raid her tribe's home in the treetops. The monstrous, batlike creatures steal supplies and drink the blood of villagers. Mercy soon realizes there are other things to fear when a fierce rain of blood begins and sends the creatures of the land into a wild frenzy. Her father, the chieftain, tasks her with finding the one responsible for the rain. Mercy's quest leads her back to the blood wings, where she will gain a surprising ally. Will Mercy's courage and cunning be enough to stop the storm of blood? 
In 2014 my short fantasy story "Chosen" appeared in the anthology Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal Author Quest: a Penguin Special from Grosset & Dunlap. The anthology consists of the top 5 stories from the Dark Crystal Author Quest Contest.
"Chosen" is a story about a young Gelfling of the Sifa clan named Zale who yearned for adventure and discovery on the high seas. He and his friend Eily set sail for an undiscovered island just off the coast from his home village. Unfortunately, fate conspires against them and their small boat ends up shipwrecked on that island. They seek shelter further inland and discover an old abandoned home, where inside Zale discovers the journal of Hagan, a former guard in the Castle of the Crystal. Within, Zale discovers the horrible truth about the Skeksis plot. |
