My name is Nancy Gray. I live in West Columbia, SC, with my husband, my two daughters, and two crazy cats. My entire family is a constant source of love and support and I owe a great deal to all of them. South Carolina is an inspiring place to live for an aspiring writer. Its natural parks, haunted places, and interesting people add to my ideas for short stories and novels and are a constant source of amusement.
I went to Cardinal Newman High School and graduated in the year 2000. I attended college at the University of South Carolina and attained a BA in Media Arts with a cognate in English. My original career was as a graphic designer. I've worked for several local sign companies and volunteered for EdVenture Children's Museum. While I eventually discovered that my passion was more for writing than graphic design, I've retained enough of my skills to occasionally create a book cover or logo. I designed the raven logo that you see above.
If you're interested in knowing a little more about me, I have a writer's blog called "Feeding the Writing Addiction." It is a blog mostly about writing, but it also includes blurbs about what is going on in my home life, movie reviews, and book reviews.
Writing is my calling and my career. My dream is to one day publish my novels and to share my stories with those who would enjoy them. I aspire to give my characters a voice. My favorite genres to write are horror, fantasy (particularly young adult), steampunk, cyberpunk, urban fantasy, and occasionally light science fiction (space opera). Many of my short stories and novels also blur the lines of genre fiction, so they would be categorized as "speculative fiction."
I have plenty of hobbies other than writing, though writing does take up a large portion of my time. I like to draw, paint, and love reading. On this website, I've included links to many of the authors that I've come to admire. I also enjoy recreational hiking, walking, and bicycling. I occasionally visit other areas of South Carolina to go "ghost hunting." I really enjoy table top role-playing games, such as Dungeons and Dragons. I'm a self-proclaimed nerd, and proud of it.
This website contains samples of my work, some of my favorite links, including a link to my blog and my twitter account.
Feel free to contact me if you are interested in my work. I'm open to constructive feedback and I'm currently looking for an agent. The best way to contact me is by e-mail through this website. I'll do my best to get back to you in a timely fashion.
I hope you enjoy the website. Please, keep reading.
